American Airlines Adds New York - St. Lucia Service to Schedule
NEW YORK, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines, New York's airline of choice, will add another new Caribbean destination from New York this fall when it begins nonstop service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to St. Lucia.
American is already the largest U.S. airline flying out of New York to the Caribbean, and the new flights will be the only nonstop service currently scheduled between New York and St. Lucia, a lush tropical island located northwest of Barbados.
American will fly the route three times weekly beginning Nov. 15, 2007, with flights operating into St. Lucia's Hewanorra International Airport. Service will be flown with Boeing 757 aircraft, configured with 22 seats in First Class and 166 seats in the Main Cabin.
American currently offers daily nonstop service to St. Lucia (Hewanorra) from Miami, while its regional partner, American Eagle, flies five times daily from San Juan, Puerto Rico (to George F.L. Charles Airport).
"For nearly four decades American Airlines has been a leader in offering travelers a wide variety of destinations in the Caribbean, and we are very excited to add New York-St. Lucia nonstop service to our schedule," said Peter J. Dolara, American's Senior Vice President - Miami, Caribbean and Latin America. "Whether traveling for a getaway to a tropical paradise like St. Lucia, or for a visit with friends and relatives, travelers can always look to American as their first and best choice to the Caribbean."
"The people of St. Lucia look forward to warmly welcoming visitors to our island from these new American Airlines flights," said the Right Honorable Sir John George Melvin Compton, Prime Minister of St. Lucia. "We know visitors will love our magnificent rain forests, beautiful mountains, and attractive beaches as much as we do. And of course, we are equally confident travelers will enjoy the excellent facilities and wonderful shopping that St. Lucia has to offer."
Following is American's schedule between New York JFK and St. Lucia, effective Nov. 15. All times shown are local.

St. Lucia is the second new Caribbean destination from New York to be added to American's schedule this year. Earlier, American announced it will begin nonstop service from JFK to St. Kitts and Nevis, also starting in November.
It's all part of American's initiative to become the clear-cut airline of choice for passengers in the New York market. This summer, American will add additional flights from New York to Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Caracas, Venezuela; and San Francisco. In September, American will begin new nonstop service from New York to Las Vegas, while American's regional affiliate, American Eagle, starts nonstop service to Louisville, Ky.
