American Airlines and American Eagle Airlines Give Customers More Choice When Flying to the Big Apple
NEW YORK, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines continues to grow and enhance its New York service announcing today that its regional affiliate, American Eagle, will begin new routes to Montreal, Canada, from LaGuardia International Airport (LGA) and Pittsburgh from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Dec. 13.
American Eagle will fly both new routes with Embraer 135 or an Embraer 140 jets, seating between 37 and 44 customers.
"We have more than an 80-year commitment to serving travelers to and from New York City," said Chuck Imhof, American's Vice President Passenger Sales -- Greater New York. "These new flights to Montreal and Pittsburgh give customers more choices as well as further strengthening our commitment to New York."
Montreal is a major metropolitan area and business center with more than 3.6 million residents. It is the second-largest French-speaking city in the Western world after Paris.

American Eagle also serves Montreal from JFK with three flights daily. Together, American Airlines and American Eagle have eight daily flights to Toronto, and American Eagle has one daily flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from LGA and two from JFK.
On December 13, American Eagle also begins nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and American Airlines new state-of-the-art terminal at JFK. This flight will permit easy connections from Pittsburgh to international destinations such as London, Frankfurt, Paris, as well as Barcelona and Milan beginning Spring 2008. The schedule for the new Pittsburgh service is as follows (all times local):

These new routes are part of American's ongoing initiative to become the clear-cut airline of choice for passengers in the New York market. American's commitment to New York equates to 248 daily departures from our New York airports to 61 nonstop destinations, 27 of which are international. And, there is much more to come. Already announced and starting Sept. 5, American will add service from New York LaGuardia to Minneapolis/St. Paul and from JFK to Las Vegas. That same day American Eagle begins service from LaGuardia to Louisville.
In November, American will begin flying nonstop to St. Lucia and St. Kitts/Nevis from JFK, while American Eagle will add service from LaGuardia to Flint, Mich. In December, a new flight from JFK to Orlando will be added, as will seasonal service between LaGuardia and West Palm Beach. Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark, and White Plains/Westchester County) on more than 180,000 flights.
