Berry Petroleum Company Names Ronald J. Robinson to Board of Directors

Berry Petroleum Company (NYSE:BRY) announced that RonaldJ. Robinson has been elected to the Board of Directors, effectiveAugust 4, 2006.

Mr. Martin H. Young, chairman of the board, said, "We aredelighted that Ron Robinson is joining Berry's Board at this time. Ronbrings deep technical knowledge and experience which will strengthenour already strong board. His advice will be invaluable as we continueour growth activities in all of the development facets of theCompany."

Mr. Robert F. Heinemann, president and chief executive officer ofBerry, stated, "Ron has tremendous experience in all technical aspectsof oil and gas development and exploration activity as well as theapplication of leading-edge technology to those activities. Ron'swillingness to be part of the Board continues to move Berry forward inits growth strategy."

Mr. Robinson has over 30 years' experience in the oil and gasindustry, having served in various roles for Texaco, including hislast position as the President of Texaco Technology Division.Following his tenure at Texaco, he served as the department head andthe Albert B. Stevens Endowed Chair professor at the Harold VanceDepartment of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. Currentlyhe is the chairman and CEO of Knowledge Deployment, Inc., whichassists in the development of high technology startup entities. Mr.Robinson holds a PhD in petroleum engineering from Texas A&MUniversity.
