CA Announces Day One Support for IBM's z/OS Release 1.8

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA today announced Day One support for IBM's z/OS and z/OS.e version 1.8 across its mainframe software product line, continuing its unbroken record of support for new releases of the z/OS operating system.

CA participated in IBM's early test program for z/OS v1.8, which features improvements in core z/OS competencies -- including scalability, availability and resource optimization. CA also has upgraded its z/OS-based product portfolio to both manage and utilize the new System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) specialty engine. To encourage customers to leverage these new engines, CA is extending its policy of excluding specialty engine capacity for z/OS-based product licensing purposes to include zIIP engines, in the same spirit as exclusions were accommodated for the Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) and the Application Assist Processor (zAAP).
