Clearwater Paper Earnings, Sales Top Estimates

(RTTNews) - Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW) on Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $15.6 million or $0.81 per share compared with $12.5 million or $0.61 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.74 per share, unchanged from a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were lower at $444.6 million compared with $498.8 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.58 per share on revenues of $441.8 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said it benefited from a reduction in both interest expenses and income tax provision.
