Comcast, Cable Companies Still At Bottom In Customer Service

(RTTNews) - Customer service of all the major cable companies, including Comcast, has been widely criticized for their weak service performance. Temkin's Customer Service Ratings 2015 has backed the fact by rating Comcast at the bottom of the list for the second straight year, with Time Warner and Charter Communications also coming in the bottom five.

Meanwhile, for the third straight year, USAA took the top spot in the Temkin Customer Service Ratings, followed by Chick-fil-A. USAA was also in the top 12 with its insurance and credit card businesses, along with credit unions, Aldi, Trader Joe's, Publix, Panera Bread, H-E-B, Amazon.com, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

The study was based on a survey of 10,000 U.S. consumers on 278 companies across 20 industries.

"USAA continues to define a high standard for customer service while Comcast along with other Internet service and TV service providers set the dubious standard for horrible customer service," states Bruce Temkin, managing partner of Temkin Group.

Comcast had recently said it will be begin a massive revamping effort to improve its low-rated customer service, as customer complaints continue to mount up. Several incidents of poor customer service became viral in the last few months. The company plans to hire thousands of new customer service agents for its new call centers being built.

Earlier today, Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR) agreed to buy Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC) in a deal worth $78.7 billion after the largest U.S. cable operator Comcast Corp. (CMCSK,CMCSA) ditched its effort a month ago.

Industry-wise, supermarkets, retailers, and banks earned average ratings of "strong" while TV service providers and Internet service providers earned an average rating of "very weak."
