Digital Workplace Increasingly Defined by End User, Business Needs, Says ISG Research Report
STAMFORD, Conn., June 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Information Services Group (ISG) (NASDAQ: III), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, announced today the release of its "Digital Workplace Services Archetype Report," part of the ISG Provider Lens™ series. The report assesses the capabilities of 25 global digital workplace service providers based on five buyer archetypes, and highlights how the digital habits of the millennial workforce are redefining the modern workplace.
The report notes today's digitally transformed workplace is no longer defined by machines, but rather, by how people use the technology available to them. The report highlights the growing demand for social collaboration, an area that now accounts for approximately 20 percent of all workplace transformation contracts. With increased usage of mobile tools and cloud technology, digital workplace transformation is leading more enterprises to re-examine how they empower employees to use technology as a means of increasing productivity.
"Digitally fueled workplace transformation is not just coming from the CIO," said Jan Erik Aase, director and principal analyst with ISG Research. "Increasingly, it is defined more by an empowered end user, and non-IT business leaders are assuming a greater role in this transformation."
The ISG Provider Lens™ Digital Workplace Services Archetype Report analyzes digital workplace service providers by each of five buyer archetypes, highlighting those that stand out in serving each group. All five archetypes are centered on a single key theme: how well enterprise IT is tied to the business. The report notes the digital workplace delivers more benefits than just cost savings, and can help achieve many other business objectives.
In noting the increase of digital workplace solutions, the report cites ISG research that shows traditional end-user computing contracts are decreasing every year, currently making up only 8 to 10 percent of all information technology outsourcing (ITO) deals. At the same time, ISG research finds, analytics-based automation of workplace services is generating productivity and cost-savings gains of about 7 percent.
Report highlights capabilities of global digital workplace providers
In addition to analyzing the current marketplace, the report assesses the capabilities of 25 global digital workplace service providers based on the needs of clients as defined by these five buyer archetypes:
Of the 25 providers assessed in the report, Atos and DXC were the only two identified as leaders in all five archetype areas.
"For providers, digital transformation means more than simply providing automated service desk support," said Aase. "Creating a digital workplace will require deeper integration with other teams, including application services, digital consulting, business integration services, and business-process-related services."
The ISG Provider Lens™ Digital Workplace Services Archetype Report is available to subscribers of ISG Insights™. An executive summary of the report is available on this webpage.
