Frank Wheeler to Head Distribution for FAF Advisors

FAF Advisors, Inc., announced today that it has named Frank Wheeler as its new head of distribution. Wheeler will assume responsibility for retail, institutional, and strategic sales, as well as key accounts, product, marketing, communications, and public relations, effective April 30. He will also be a member of the firm’s Operating Committee. Wheeler’s appointment comes at a time when FAF Advisors is focused on expanding distribution of its First American mutual funds to third parties – including wire houses, regional brokerage firms, and financial advisory firms – and increasing its asset-management presence in the institutional marketplace. Wheeler assumes the position previously held by Jim Greenawalt, who passed away in July 2006. He also assumes responsibility for product, marketing, communications, and public relations from Jon Stevens, who will assume a new role in the firm overseeing technology, operations, and investment administration reporting to Chief Investment Officer Mark Jordahl. This move underscores the strategic importance of these areas as FAF Advisors develops new products and expands the sophistication and global capabilities of its current product offerings. Wheeler is a senior marketing and strategic business leader with 20 years of experience in building revenues across diverse financial-services and packaged-goods companies. He brings specific senior institutional, retail, and international asset-management experience with him to FAF Advisors. Wheeler joins FAF Advisors from Merrill Lynch, where he was managing director and head of institutional marketing for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM). He joined MLIM in 2000 as the chief marketing officer for the Asia-Pacific region in Tokyo. He also held additional high-net-worth retail roles in the MLIM Americas region. Wheeler developed his business and marketing skills during a brand-management career at Procter & Gamble. He also has several years of additional financial-services experience with the Van Kampen Funds unit of Morgan Stanley and Wachovia. He has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and a B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College. "Frank’s breadth of role addresses the challenges posed by a converging distribution landscape,” said Chief Executive Officer Tom Schreier. "His experience, strategic capabilities and track record, coupled with our product lineup, are ideally suited to ensure continuation of our strong distribution momentum.” About FAF Advisors Based in Minneapolis, FAF Advisors, Inc., is a subsidiary of U.S. Bank National Association and serves as the investment advisor to First American Funds.
