General Dynamics Itronix GoBook(R) VR-2 Named Best Semi-Rugged Notebook of the Year by LAPTOP Magazine

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Itronix, an industry leading maker of rugged notebook computers, announced today that its solutions have won three industry awards in as many months. Most recently, the General Dynamics Itronix GoBook VR-2, a next-generation semi-rugged notebook, was named Best Notebook of the Year in the Semi-Rugged category by LAPTOP Magazine in its December 2007 issue. The General Dynamics Itronix GoBook XR-1, a high-performance multi-wireless rugged notebook computer, was selected as a finalist in the Cygnus Law Enforcement Group's 2007 Innovation Awards, announced on October 13, 2007. In addition, the General Dynamics Itronix DynaVue touchscreen display technology, integrated into both the GoBook VR-2 and GoBook XR-1 notebooks, was named an Editor's Choice product in the September/October issue of Military Embedded Systems magazine.

The General Dynamics Itronix GoBook VR-2 is a semi-rugged notebook computer that features the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7300 at 2.0 GHz and superior ergonomic and wireless features. It also provides a 13.3-inch DynaVue display that delivers superior touchscreen viewability in all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight.

In announcing the Best Notebook of the Year awards, the editors of LAPTOP Magazine wrote, "What good is a notebook you can use everywhere if you can't see the screen everywhere? General Dynamics Itronix answers that challenge with the GoBook VR-2, which incorporates groundbreaking DynaVue display technology for the best outdoor readability we've seen on any laptop."

The Cygnus Law Enforcement Group announced its 2007 Innovation Awards in October 2007, in conjunction with the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. A finalist in the Computers category, the General Dynamics Itronix GoBook XR-1 notebook packs full voltage processing architecture and integrated graphics controller power into a thin and light fully rugged frame, weighing just 6.8 pounds with a small footprint (11.8 inches by 9.65 inches by 1.97 inches). The GoBook XR-1 combines rugged features with high-performance computing and unmatched security in a product designed to perform in mobile outdoor environments. Like the GoBook VR-2, the GoBook XR-1 features a DynaVue display screen for superior viewability in all lighting conditions. Recognized with an Editor's Choice award in the September/October issue of Military Embedded Systems magazine, the General Dynamics Itronix DynaVue technology uses a patent-pending design approach that balances display brightness and contrast ratio and virtually eliminates the internal reflections that wash out display clarity, to optimize viewability in all lighting conditions - including direct sunlight. This technology is a standard feature of the touchscreen on General Dynamics Itronix's full line of rugged and semi-rugged notebooks and tablet PCs, including the GoBook VR-2 and GoBook XR-1. "Receiving these awards is particularly gratifying because they highlight the way our products aid multiple industries - from military and public safety to utilities and telecommunications - that rely on the productivity of mobile workers who do their jobs primarily outdoors," said Ben Thacker, vice president of strategic marketing for General Dynamics Itronix. "Being recognized in this manner is a tribute to the effort we put into developing products that serve our customers' mission-critical needs."
