General Motors Communications Manager Megan Soule Named President of Public Relations Society of America - Detroit Chapter
DETROIT, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Megan Soule. APR, communications manager, General Motors, was named President of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) – Detroit Chapter for 2019. Also elected to the Executive Board: President-Elect Kim Eberhardt, director, Tanner Friedman; Treasurer Sharon Tatom Garcia, APR, president, Startup Communications, LLC; Secretary Michelle Gilbert, vice president, public relations, Comcast and Immediate Past President Tom O'Connell, senior account executive, Business Wire.

The election of the 2019 PRSA Detroit Officers and Directors was conducted during the Annual Meeting event on Thursday, November 15 at the General Motors Heritage Center. During the event, the chapter also inducted longtime Detroit public relations professionals John Austerberry, APR, DTE Energy (retired), into the chapter Hall of Fame and honored Curt McAllister, Toyota Motor North America, with the Robert Hefty Distinguished Service Award and Jamie Morris, APR, Clinton Macomb Public Library, with the Nancy Skidmore Award for Distinguished Chapter Service. Two students from Wayne State University, Alexandria Burgel and Chanel Taylor were awarded PRSA Detroit Education Fund Scholarships and two professionals Brad Pettiford, United Shore and Kristin Sokul, Tanner Friedman, were awarded the APR designation.
The Detroit Chapter of PRSA was established in 1947 and is now the premier organization for Southeast Michigan public relations professionals. As one of the largest chapters of PRSA, it serves as a gateway to public relations professionals by providing educational and career opportunities for nearly 400 local members – from students to seasoned professionals – who represent business and industry, agencies, solo practitioners, associations, non-profit organizations and government entities.
