Google Glass To Be Available For Single Day Sale In US On April 15

(RTTNews) - Search engine giant Google, Inc. (GOOGL, GOOG) said its internet-linked Glass will be available for purchase in the U.S., on April 15. The firm noted that it is just not ready yet to bring Glass to other countries.

The Glass will be available to any adult in the U.S., and can become a 'Glass Explorer' by purchasing it for $1,500 + tax. According to the company, the eyewear can be purchased online, and there would only be a limited number of units available.

"Our Explorers are moms, bakers, surgeons, rockers, and each new Explorer has brought a new perspective that is making Glass better", the company said.

Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display that is being developed by Google. It displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format that can communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands.

Last month end, Google entered into a strategic partnership with Italian eyewear company Luxottica Group SpA (LUX) to develop innovative wearable smart eye devices for Google Glass.

Luxottica Group is a leader in the design, manufacture, distribution and sales of premium, luxury and sports eyewear. Luxottica is the owner of the two popular proprietary Ray-Ban and Oakley sunglass brands.

GOOGL closed Thursday's regular trading at $546.69, down 3.59 percent, on a volume of 2.73 million shares. GOOG ended at $540.95, down 4.11 percent, on 3.44 million shares.
