'Grand Manor' Mansion set to sell at absolute auction
MIDDLETON, Tenn., March 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A 308-acre country estate featuring a mansion and other homes owned by former Tennessee state legislator Larry Bates will sell in a court-ordered auction at 10:07 Saturday, April 27.
The property will sell at absolute auction, with John Roebuck Auctions conducting the event on-site. In an absolute auction, assets sell with no reserve or minimum.
The property is located at 3780 Winwood Farm Loop Road, Middleton, which is approximately an hour's drive from Memphis, 45 minutes south of Jackson, and three hours from Nashville and Birmingham. Auction personnel will be at the property for inspections from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.April 12, 13 and 26.
The mansion is approximately 12,000 square feet, with a grand entrance, wraparound balcony, marble floors, chandeliers, winding staircases and an elevator. Other features are a theater/media room, a full exercise room, a 60-watt propane generator, and a four-car garage with an apartment above it.
"The home was designed by world renowned architects Carmichael & Dame, who named it The Grand Manor. It was built with levels of quality and workmanship rarely seen today.
