Internap Completes Deployment of Asia-Pacific Operations Centers; Inte
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2005--Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX: IIP), the leading provider of performance-based routing technology over the Internet, today announced that it has completed its Private Network Access Point (P-NAP) deployment into Equinix Internet Business Exchange(TM)(IBX)(R) centers located in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney, Australia.
As part of an agreement announced with Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX) last August, Internap has installed its industry leading P-NAP technology, including its patented route control software, in Equinix's Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney centers. In addition to offering access to the aggregation of Internet businesses operating within its connectivity hubs, Equinix can now provide field support for the P-NAPs, along with local provisioning of access circuits and language translation to Internap's U.S. Network Operations Centers.
"We are extremely pleased with the speed with which we've been able to bring these centers online," said Greg Peters, Internap President and Chief Executive Officer, in making today's announcement. "This effort represents a significant milestone for Internap, as it is the first international expansion as a company since launching the Tokyo P-NAP some four years ago. With this deployment, Internap greatly broadens its presence in this rapidly growing part of the world. And, we significantly expand the capabilities that we can offer to U.S. businesses with operations in the region."
These enhanced capabilities are delivering what business enterprises are seeking in today's increasingly networked global economy:
-- | Increased Performance - with its vast collection of interconnected networks worldwide, clients can depend on Internap as the single POC for delivering optimal performance to all destinations. |
-- | Enhanced reliability - as applications are becoming more mission-critical, businesses typically deploy additional resources to strengthen their network infrastructure. Internap can deliver more, with fewer resources. |
-- | Reduced cost/complexity - as a trusted advisor, Internap removes the complexities of evaluating foreign offerings and contracts when expanding into Asia. This can reduce costs, and better focus limited resources on planning, implementation and services delivery. |
-- | Optimized routing - Internap's intelligent routing technology provides optimal routing to any local, intra-Asia or global destination. |
-- | Built-in redundancy - Internap's business model delivers "built-in" multi-homing for extra reliability and network performance. |
-- | 24x7 proactive support - Internap's "always on" NOC support proactively monitors network status around the clock, so network problems are routed around ahead of time. |
With the commissioning of these centers, Internap's total number of service points grows to 37, with major locations throughout the U.S., United Kingdom, Japan and today's new Asia-Pac facilities. Today's announcement is an indication of the growing global nature of Internap's business. The agreement provides Equinix customers with access to Internap's portfolio of advanced IP solutions - ranging from Internet connectivity to managed VPNs - as well as the company's award-winning Flow Control Platform(TM)(FCP) customer premise equipment, and its recently announced Flow Control Xcelerator (FCX). Similarly, Internap can bundle its advanced IP services with Equinix's data center offerings. The agreement offers turnkey solutions to customers seeking a presence in the Asia-Pac region. Customers located in these cities can secure Internap IP connectivity through a local access connection into the Equinix IBX.
