Jane Philpott tables 2018-19 Supplementary Estimates (B) and 2019-20 Interim Estimates
OTTAWA, Jan. 28, 2019 /CNW/ - Canadians, and their Parliamentary representatives, must be able to easily track how government spends public funds, which is why the Government is committed to improving the transparency of the Estimates' documents.
Today, the Honourable Jane Philpott, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government, tabled the 2018–19 Supplementary Estimates (B) and the 2019-20 Interim Estimates in the House of Commons.
The 2018–19 Supplementary Estimates (B) seek Parliament's approval of $2.5 billion to deliver programs and services to Canadians. They include funding to support our veterans, to invest in First Nation communities and to implement the Feminist International Assistance Policy announced in Budget 2018.
Supplementary Estimates (B), 2018–19 are the last Supplementary Estimates planned for this fiscal year. They reflect the government's continuing commitment to improve the accountability of its spending to parliamentarians and Canadians.
The Interim Estimates, also tabled today, seek approval of $37.7 billion for 122 organizations, for the planned funding needed to cover government operations during the first three months of the fiscal year.

- Through the 2018-19 Supplementary Estimates (B), the Government is seeking $2.5 billion in additional spending for 48 federal organizations.
- These Supplementary Estimates also include an increase in planned statutory expenditures of $3.7 billion.
- Funds for the Feminist International Assistance Policy will be used provide humanitarian assistance, combat gender-based violence, increase access to education, promote gender equality, strengthen democratic processes and support the empowerment of women and girls.
- Through the 2019-20 Interim Estimates, 122 organizations are seeking approval of $37.7 billion in budgetary expenditures and $14.3 million in non‑budgetary expenditures.
- Supplementary and Interim Estimates support the request for parliamentary authority to spend public funds. They are part of the normal parliamentary approval process to ensure planned government initiatives receive the necessary funding to move forward.
