QUÉBEC CITY, Nov. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for both national and regional economic diversification. To this end, Government of Canada support for recreational tourism projects and projects that showcase tourism sites and attractions helps generate significant economic spinoff in regions and communities.
The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that the Le Massif Hotel Complex would receive $9,850,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, for the construction and development of the first Club Med resort in North America, at the foot of the Le Massif ski hill in the Charlevoix region.
The mission of the recently incorporated Le Massif de Charlevoix Hotel Complex (CMC) is to oversee the setting up of the resort. It has two major private partners: Groupe Le Massif and Club Med. The funding provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will allow the CMC to build a 300‑room hotel.
