Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Weekend Events at Wilshire Boulevard Temple Confront Hatred and Deepen Interfaith Connections

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a rare Los Angeles appearance, Bernard-Henri Lévy, the French philosopher, activist, and a great moral voice of our time, will be in conversation with special guest Rabbi David Wolpe at Wilshire Boulevard Temple on Sunday evening, January 15 at 7:30 p.m. The free evening program, open to the public and sponsored by the Jerome S. Tober Fund and in association with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the USC Casden Institute, will build on Lévy's passionate and personal new book The Genius of Judaism (Random House, release date: January 10), in which he examines a new and stealthy form of anti-Semitism, provides a provocative defense of Israel, questions his spiritual roots, and offers a new vision of what it means to be a Jew.

On this same Martin Luther King Jr. birthday weekend, Faithful Central Bible Church, led by Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, and Wilshire Boulevard Temple, led by Senior Rabbi Steve Leder, join together to honor the values of Dr. King in their respective houses of worship as part of a continuing interfaith exchange between the two congregations. On Friday evening, January 13 at 7:30 p.m., Gospel music by the acclaimed Sacred Praise Chorale, Hebrew liturgy, and readings will resound in the historic Temple Sanctuary. On Sunday, the Temple goes to Church, joining Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood for 9:30 a.m. services.
