Mercer HR Services Utilizes Wealth Management Systems, Inc. Technology to Offer Enhanced Rollover Services for Former Retirement Plan Participants

Mercer HR Services, the HR outsourcing business of Mercer Human Resource Consulting, announced today that it will leverage the technology of Wealth Management Systems, Inc. (WMSI) to help retirement plan participants easily open Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) with a variety of industry-leading providers. To enable participants to continue saving for retirement without interruption – even if they retire or change companies – WMSI, a leading provider of technology-based rollover products and services, will supply software that facilitates the opening of IRAs and the smooth transition of assets. As a natural extension of the capabilities Mercer HR Services provides "in-plan,” these expanded retirement and distribution services help former participants learn about their options and then decide what is appropriate for their unique situation. If former participants choose to roll over their savings, utilizing WMSI technology, Mercer HR Services can quickly make it happen by giving them access to a variety of IRA providers and the ability to initiate a rollover transaction in as little as a single phone call. Instead of mailing a distribution check to participants, assets are directly deposited into their new IRA. As a result, they are more apt to stay the retirement saving course and less likely to jeopardize their future financial security by taking an early, taxable cash distribution or simply doing nothing at all. "Freedom of choice is the basis of our commitment to offering plan sponsors an open investment architecture that allows them to select plan investments that suit their particular employee demographics,” said Eric Levy, Mercer HR Services’ Director of Business Development and Division Head of Mercer Securities*. "We give the same freedom of choice to our former 401(k) plan participants by leveraging WMSI technology in order to provide them with a range of leading IRA providers, in addition to IRAs offered by our affiliated firm, Mercer Securities.” Tom Loch, President of WMSI, emphasized the ease of use provided by WMSI technology. "A typical IRA rollover process can be complex, confusing and time consuming. However, through the use of our technology, Mercer HR Services’ former plan participants will benefit from a simplified, expedited rollover process,” said Mr. Loch. "We’re proud to work with Mercer HR Services, an industry leader who is dedicated to helping people achieve their retirement savings objectives even if they are no longer participants in a plan they administer.” About Mercer Mercer HR Services employs 4,100 professionals in major international service centers located in Melbourne, Australia; Toronto, Canada; Dublin, Ireland; and London, England.
