Business Editors/High-Tech Writers/Telecommunications Writers
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2005--Metro One Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq:INFO), the leading provider of Enhanced Directory Assistance(R) and other enhanced telecom services, today announced that it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,845,155 for a method of efficiently rerouting information assistance calls among multiple call centers. Metro One offers such services through its Enhanced Directory Assistance systems and Infone(R), its premium personal assistant service, at 888-411-1111.
The patent describes a method whereby a directory or information assistance call can be rerouted to another agent call center when it is determined that the call center originally receiving the call is too busy or otherwise unable to efficiently handle the call. The first call center may issue a request for rerouting the call to a second call center to which the call is rerouted, based on the condition of the second call center, and so forth.
"This innovation allows us to optimize and minimize infrastructure overhead while maintaining superior personalized live operator services," said Timothy Timmins, president and chief executive officer of Metro One Telecommunications. "We are excited to create new and better technologies that allow us to provide ever more responsive and efficient personal services over the phone."
