Nuclear Fuel: AREVA Awarded Contract by Finnish Utility TVO

AREVA (Paris:AREVA) has been selected by the Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) to supply fuel assemblies to the nuclear reactors in operation at the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant. From 2016 to 2019, AREVA will deliver a total of four reloads of its ATRIUM™ fuel design.

Beginning with the use of the ATRIUM™ 10XM fuel assembly design at these boiling water reactors, TVO plans to upgrade, as early as 2018, to AREVA’s most advanced boiling water reactor fuel design, ATRIUM™ 11.

Already used by three European utilities, this fuel design has been developed to offer improved economical performance and greater flexibility in operations.

The fuel assemblies will be produced at AREVA’s Lingen manufacturing plant in Germany.
