Agilent Technologies Inc. (A) is rising 11 percent to $54.87. The company announced plans to separate into two publicly traded companies, one catering to life sciences, diagnostics and applied markets that will retain the Agilent name, and the other that will comprise its current portfolio of electronic measurement products. Agilent also announced it has combined Life Sciences Group with its Diagnostics and Genomics business.

Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) is up 12 percent to $4.16. The company swung to a profit in its second quarter. The company also raised its fiscal 2014 earnings guidance.

BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (BMRN) is rising 9 percent to $84.40.

Decliners:

Pier 1 Imports, Inc. (PIR) is down 8 percent to $21.75. The company's second quarter results were below Wall Street view. The company also lowered its fiscal 2014 earnings per share forecast.

SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. (SSNC) is down over 3 percent to $38.00. The company announced a public offering of about 7.47 million of its common stock by investment funds affiliated with The Carlyle Group (CG).

ConAgra Foods, Inc. (CAG) is down 1 percent to $31.72. The company's first quarter profit declined from the prior year period. Net sales for the quarter improved, but missed the consensus estimate.

Trading halt:

Trading in shares of Prospect Global Resources, Inc. (PGRX) was halted. Sichuan Chemical Industry Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. has issued the company a Letter of Intent indicating interest in up to a $20 million strategic investment in Prospect to further the development of Holbrook Project.
