Business Editors
SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2005--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today the appointment of Richard Gauvin as Director of Sales and Marketing for Alcoa-SIE Cargo Conversions, LLC. (ASCC).
Gauvin joins ASCC with more than 15 years of experience in commercial aviation, most of which involved the design, certification and sales of aircraft cargo loading systems and equipment. Most recently with Telair International, Gauvin has extensive knowledge of a variety of cargo aircraft and air cargo operations that will enable him to assist ASCC's customers to make fact-based, knowledgeable decisions on cargo aircraft fleet plans.
ASCC also announced the roll-out of a new website www.alcoa-sie.com. The website allows viewers to obtain a variety of information regarding the ASCC 757-200 14Plus(TM) cargo conversion. As part of ASCC's overall product support program, customers can log into the ASCC site to obtain product support related documentation, purchase spares and request other product support services.
The ASCC 14Plus(TM) is a simple, fast, low cost cargo conversion for the 757-200 - a proven, fuel efficient, quiet airliner with outstanding payload/range characteristics that is a logical replacement for aging 727 and DC-8 freighters. The 14Plus(TM) configuration can accommodate 14 each 88x125 containers or pallets on the main deck and a 15th smaller container or pallet in the aft most position. This configuration allows ASCC to offer a modification that is cost effective, minimizes schedule and technical risks, and maintains to the extent possible commonality with the passenger airplanes insuring reduced costs for spare parts and technical support.
Alcoa - SIE Cargo Conversion (ASCC) was formed in 2003 when Alcoa and Structural Integrity Engineering joined to engineer, manufacture, certify and install and support Boeing 757-200 cargo conversions. The company inducted a Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management LLC 757-200 as its first aircraft in May, 2004.
