RSA Insurance 9-month Net Written Premiums Up 7% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - RSA Insurance Group Plc. (RSA.L, RSANY.PK), Tuesday reported a 7 percent increase in net written premiums to 6.7 billion pounds for the nine-month period. Scandinavia written premiums were flat at 1.48 billion pounds, while Canada saw a growth of 1.64 billion pounds, and UK & Western Europe's rose 3 percent to 2.83 billion pounds. Emerging markets' net premiums written were up by 17 percent to 1.03 billion pounds.

Looking forward, citing adverse weather conditions in Europe and Canada, the company now expects 2013 return on equity to be below 10 percent. The company said its underwriting profit has been affected by extreme weather events in 2013. Investment income, the company said it expects to be on track for around 470 million pounds.
