Scripps Networks Posts Higher Q1 Profit - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Lifestyle media company Scripps Networks Interactive Inc.'s (SNI) first quarter net income attributable to the company advanced to $128 million, or $0.87 per share, from $108 million, or $0.72 per share, last year, which included unfavorable tax adjustments of $0.05 per share.

During the quarter, total segment profit increased by 9.4 percent to $271 million.

Quarterly consolidated revenues rose 8.3 percent to $644 million from $594.4 million in the prior-year period. Results for the three-month period ended March 31 reflect strong advertising revenue of $434 million, up 10 percent, and affiliate fee revenue of $201 million, up 7.2 percent year-on-year, the company noted.

Lifestyle media revenues in the 2014 first quarter grew 7.6 percent to $623 million, driven by advertising and affiliate fee revenue growth.
