Subsidiary of Cox Enterprises Live on Kronos for 30,000 Employees; Manheim Centralizes Workforce Management for 85 Locations in Six Months

    Business Editors/High-Tech Editors

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2005--With more than 85 locations, Manheim identified organizational inefficiencies that were prohibiting the sharing of information across the enterprise. They realized that using disparate time and labor systems prevented them from performing company-wide analysis of labor data. To overcome this obstacle, the subsidiary of Cox Enterprises selected Kronos(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: KRON) to provide a centralized workforce management solution, the Workforce Central(R) suite. Following an aggressive implementation timeline, Manheim is now live on Workforce Central for more than 30,000 employees.
"Cox Enterprises is driven to identify and apply best practices across the enterprise," said Cathy Hubbard, senior director of accounting at Cox Enterprises. "Not only has Kronos centralized and standardized 85 different timekeeping processes, but it also provides management with greater visibility to analyze labor data company-wide. Thanks to Kronos, all Manheim business units can now share best practices in workforce management in order to maximize productivity and business returns."
Manheim's complex payroll and diverse workforce provided a host of workforce management challenges, which Kronos is helping to solve. With Kronos' robust pay rules engine, all pay rules are applied consistently and accurately. This functionality has allowed for enhanced compliance capabilities and reduced payroll errors. By capturing the data in one location, the 85 locations are now learning from one another and improving workforce management with the consistent application of best practice methodologies.

Laying the foundation for continued efficiencies

By streamlining and centralizing Manheim's time and labor business processes, Workforce Central has laid the foundation for additional enterprise workforce management applications. Kronos also was able to meet Manheim's aggressive, enterprise-wide implementation timeline in advance of its PeopleSoft payroll system rollout. In addition, Manheim is leveraging Kronos data collection solutions including the Kronos 4500(TM) and Kronos 4500 Touch ID(TM) terminals. With the use of the terminals, employees are able to enter their time, verify the hours they worked, and capture their transfers between departments.
"We believed in Kronos to devote the necessary resources in services and consulting knowledge to meet an aggressive timeframe so we could move forward with the PeopleSoft payroll application as planned," commented Mike Wysong, ERP development manager at Cox Enterprises. "And Kronos delivered as promised -- on time and under budget."
"Cox Enterprises came to us with a different workforce management solution in each of its 85 locations. In a very short timeframe, Kronos narrowed it down to one," said Dave Roth, director of industry marketing at Kronos. "As a result, the foundation is laid for continuous improvement of workforce management practices enterprise-wide. Kronos is the clear choice for the largest and most complex enterprises to get a handle on their most valuable asset -- their workforce."
