Swiss Stocks End Brutal Week With A Whimper

(RTTNews) - Swiss stocks were flat Friday, lagging slightly behind other major European markets. It was a dreadful week in Europe, as renewed fears about the Portuguese banking system led to some of the worst losses of the year.

The Swiss Market Index slipped 0.07 percent to 8,468.52, as Swatch and Julius Baer continued to struggle.

Credit Suisse and UBS were also marginally lower.

Dufry has priced 500 million euros in senior notes to finance its acquisition of The Nuance Group. Shares were down 0.7 percent.

EMS Group said net sales rose 4.8 percent in the first half to 999 million Swiss francs. Shares rose 4.3 percent.
