TeliaSonera: Telia First in Nordic Countries to Offer Disney Channel and Discovery On-Demand

TV evenings that begin with a look at the listings will now face some competition. Television viewing based on standard TV listings is being challenged more and more by services that allow viewers to watch anything they like - whenever they like. In a survey recently conducted by Telia in Sweden, 12 percent of the respondents said that they were already using video-on-demand today, and close to 50 percent stated that they are positive towards trying it out.

"It is becoming more and more obvious that we want to influence our own media consumption and watch television when it suits us. We saw a clear upswing in video-on-demand services during 2007, which is one of the reasons why we are now focusing on offering two new packages of channels that we believe will appeal to many of our customers," says Kent Jonsson, sales manager for broadband services at TeliaSonera Sweden.

On-demand included in monthly rate Today, Telia is launching two brand-new packages of channels that can be purchased separately or in combination with other channel packages. The packages are intended primarily for families with children who like Disney's classic series and new series (Disney Channel), and for those who appreciate documentaries about everything from technology to science and adventure, wild animals and the history of people and events (Discovery). The content and prices are shown below. The on-demand service is included in the monthly rate.
