The New York Times Company Names Ron McCoy Chief Digital Architect, Digital Operations

    NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2005--The New York Times Company announced today that Ron McCoy has been named chief digital architect for the Company's digital operations. The appointment is effective immediately and Mr. McCoy will report to Martin A. Nisenholtz, senior vice president of digital operations.
    "I am thrilled that Ron is bringing his considerable expertise to the Times Company," said Mr. Nisenholtz. "His extensive print, publishing and technology experience will help us identify and implement key strategic products and services, allowing us to create new revenue streams and optimize existing ones."
    In his new role, Mr. McCoy, 36, will work across the Company's digital operations to define and build new products and services, manage existing infrastructure and identify key partnerships that will leverage and grow the Company's Web properties.
    Mr. McCoy served as senior vice president of research, operations and technology for Nielsen NetRatings in January and February. Before that he was chief technology officer and head of operations for About.com from 1999 to 2005, where he led the team that designed, implemented and supported the content and technology platforms for About.com and Primedia Internet Group.
    From 1996 to 1999, Mr. McCoy served as chief technology officer of Cox Interactive Media (CIM). Earlier, he served as technical director for Cox's Atlanta Journal and Constitution, from 1993 to 1996.
