The New York Times Expands Distribution in Salt Lake City Area

The New York Times announced today that it has entered into an agreement with The Newspaper Agency Co., LLC, publisher of The Salt Lake Tribune, to print The Times’s national edition in Salt Lake City, Utah. The agreement, to take effect in late September, will enable The Times to extend weekday and Sunday home delivery to readers in the Salt Lake City area as well as better serve existing markets in the surrounding area. "This new agreement with The Salt Lake Tribune underscores our commitment to provide The Times’s high-quality journalism to more readers in more markets throughout North America,” said Scott Heekin-Canedy, president and general manager of The New York Times. "This is one of three print site expansions slated for the next twelve months.” "Using the latest technology, we recently completed the construction and installation of a world class printing and packaging facility in Salt Lake City,” said Brent Low, publisher of The Salt Lake Tribune. The New York Times is currently printed at 22 locations in North America: Chicago, Ill.; Gardenia, Calif.; Deerfield Beach, Fla.; Austin, Tex.; Seattle, Wash.; Canton, Ohio; Concord, Calif.; Atlanta, Ga.; Springfield, Va.; Billerica, Mass.; Lakeland, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Denver, Colo.; Princeton, Minn.; Gastonia, N.C.; Dayton, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Mich.; Columbia, Mo.; Toronto, Ontario; and Houston, Tex. The New York edition is printed in Queens, N.Y. and Edison, N.J. The Salt Lake City print site will bring the number to 23.
