UPS Freight Names 2007 All-Star Road Team

RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- UPS Freight, honoring 15 of the nation's safest drivers, today announced its 2007 All-Star Road Team.

Selected from more than 6,000 UPS Freight local and long-haul drivers, the elite team boasts more than 324 years of truck driving experience and nearly 26 million accident-free miles.

This year's team marks the 10th time the company has honored its best by appointing them as safety ambassadors for the company and industry.

Heading this year's honorees is Team Captain Ronald Dudley, a road driver based in Chicago. Dudley, who has been with UPS Freight for the past 23 years, has driven nearly 3 million miles without an accident.

In addition to his work behind the wheel, Dudley is a force in the classroom where he trains other drivers and trainers in safe work methods. He also has served as a judge for the America Trucking Association's Truck Driving Championships and as a participant in the UPS Small Package fundraisers for Special Olympics.

Joining Dudley on the 2007 UPS Freight All-Stars are three California drivers: Merritt Roy from Fresno; Jesus Caro Davilla from Los Angeles; and Mira Loma's Brian McDonald.

Also, Road Drivers Roger Thomas from Denver; Stephen Gilbert from North Reno, Nev.; Eugene Burnside, Memphis, Tenn.; Robert Bowman, Orlando, Fla.; Fred Unger, Newburgh, N.Y.; Randy Crews, Lynchburg, Va.; and Dennis Martin, Gaffney, S.C.

Completing the 2007 UPS Freight All-Star Road Team are city drivers Ron Fitzgerald from Erie, Pa; Dennis Smith of Garland, Texas; Cleveland's Jeffrey Brown; and Cincinnati's Virgil Cromer Jr.
