Wildfire Relief: U-Haul Extends 30 Days Free Self-Storage to California Evacuees
YUBA CITY, Calif., Oct. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Five U-Haul Companies across California are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents who have been or will be impacted by the devastating wildfires.
There are 21 wildfires in the region that have burned more than 190,000 acres. At least 3,500 homes and businesses have been destroyed and thousands of people have been evacuated.
"Firefighters are warning that a weekend of strong wind gusts will continue to make their battle tougher," said Chris Watson, U-Haul Company of Northwest California president. "Many of our neighbors are in harm's way. We want to offer a safe place for them to store their possessions."
U-Haul Companies of Los Angeles South, Northwest California, Riverside, Van Nuys/San Luis Obispo and West Sacramento have made eight facilities across seven cities available to offer the 30 days free disaster relief program.
