10th Annual ANF Group Tour de Broward to Benefit Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital

MIRAMAR, Fla., Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 10th Annual ANF Group Tour de Broward is set to celebrate a milestone and organizers, participants, patients and families are hoping new participants will go the extra mile starting today by joining in on a historical fundraiser for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

Cycling, running, and walking are regular Sunday activities for many South Floridians, but their physical efforts will take on extra meaning the morning of February 24, 2019. That's when the 10th annual ANF Group Tour de Broward will take place at Miramar Regional Park and thousands will exercise to help children and families at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital (JDCH).

In its nine previous years, Tour de Broward has raised over $3.7 million to aid the growth of the Hollywood-based hospital, the largest pediatric facility serving Broward, Palm Beach, and northern Miami-Dade counties. Funds raised from previous years have supported the hospital's Heart Institute, which provides children with a complete continuum of care from diagnosis to repair of congenital defects and other cardiac dysfunctions. It houses the Pediatric Heart Transplant Program, one of only two programs of its kind in South Florida that recently celebrated alongside the team's 50th heart transplant patient. Funds have also supported programs for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, helping to improve the lives of many oncology patients and families. In Fiscal Year 2016, JDCH cared for children needing 61,607 hospital outpatient visits, 7,455 pediatric surgeries, and 9,538 admissions and observation stays.

The 2018 ANF Group Tour de Broward attracted more than 7,500 participants raising more than $550,000, positively impacting more than 80,000 kids who required outpatient visits, surgeries, admissions and observation stays during the year.

This year, the event marks its 10th year when the need is greater than ever to raise funds for South Broward's only pediatric hospital, which has become the leading children's hospital where the power of play and patient and family-centered care are at the heart of its mission. Funds raised at the 2019 event will be earmarked for the expansion of pediatric facilities, programs, and services at JDCH.

Tour de Broward 2019 will feature a variety of events for adults, kids, physically challenged athletes and wounded warriors alike. These events include a 3K Walk & 5K Timed Run; 50K and 100K Cycling challenges, The Power of Play Kids Zone, food, entertainment, vendor booths, and several surprises for participants along the way.
