BB&T reopens South Florida branches in aftermath of Hurricane Irma
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- BB&T Corporation (NYSE: BBT) today announced it has reopened the majority of its financial centers in the South Florida region in the wake of the damages left behind by Hurricane Irma.

Clients who may have incurred storm-related overdraft, returned item, negative account balance or late loan payment fees related to the storm are encouraged to contact BB&T at 800-BANK-BBT (800-226-5228) for assistance. In the areas impacted by Hurricane Irma through Sept. 30:
- Clients will not be charged for the use of any non-BB&T ATMs
- Fees charged to BB&T clients by other financial institutions for the use of their ATMs will be refunded
- Non-BB&T clients who withdraw cash from a BB&T ATM will not be charged
BB&T recently announced a contribution of $500,000 to help support disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Half of the donation will be a cash contribution to the American Red Cross and the remainder is comprised of eight truckloads of humanitarian supplies, such as bottled water and basic essentials to assist in the recovery.
