Canadian Stocks Rise, Home Capital Rebounds -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks were higher Monday, as crude oil prices steadied above $46 a barrel.
The TSX Composite Index was up 68 points to 15,638.
Home Capital Group is suspending its quarterly dividend. The company also announced it has drawn down $1.4-billion of its $2-billion credit line. Brenda Eprile was named its new board chair. Shares jumped 14 percent.
Suncor Energy Inc (SU.TO) plans to submit an application to regulators for a new thermal oil sands. Shares rose 1.5 percent.
Bombardier's (BBD.B.TO) biggest outside shareholder withdrew support for Chairman Pierre Beaudoin.
Hudson's Bay (HBC.TO) has hired a debt restructuring adviser to review potential options for combining its business with Neiman Marcus, Reuters reports.
