PALM SPRINGS, Fla., July 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With fall just around the corner, it's fast approaching the time when children go back to school. According to a vision study by PBA, vision disorders in children from birth up to 17 years old cost Americans more than $5.7 billion in direct and indirect costs. "The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time in a child's life," said Hugh R. Parry, president and CEO of Prevent Blindness America. "By working together with parents and educators, we hope to give all our kids a bright and healthy start!"
Kid's Eye Exams and Children's Glasses
According to the American Optometric Association, infants up to 24 months old should have their vision checked every six months while kids 2 to 5 years old should have an eye exam around 3 years old. The AOA also recommends children 6 to 18 years have an eye examination before entering first grade and every two years afterwards.
Stanton Optical encourages all their patients to bring their children in for a comprehensive eye exam before they head back to school this fall. With thousands of kid's eyeglasses and frames to choose from at each store, the optical retailer is a great place to visit for back-to-school shopping for glasses for kids.
Customers can schedule an eye exam for their son or daughter at any Stanton Optical store. One of their Doctors of Optometry will perform a series of tests to analyze the child's field of vision, color acuity, eye shape and overall eye health. An exciting new promotion for 2013 is free impact resistant lenses with the purchase of any pair of children's prescription glasses. Kids can be hard on eyeglasses, so durability is a must.
