Dollar Tree Q3 Profit Rises, Lifts Full Year Revenue View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Discount stores operator Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR) Thursday said third-quarter net income totaled $133.0 million or $0.64 per shareholders, higher than $125.4 million or $0.58 per share in the previous year.

Adjusted earnings per share was $0.69. On average, 23 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.64 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Consolidated net sales increased 11.2 percent to $2.10 billion from $1.88 billion in the prior year. Analysts expected revenues of $2.06 billion.

Consolidated same-store sales increased 5.9 percent, compared to a 3.1 percent increase in the prior-year period.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, earnings per share are estimated to be in the range of $1.07 to $1.14, excluding acquisition-related costs.

The company estimates consolidated net sales to be in the range of $2.39 billion to $2.46 billion, based on a range of low-single digit positive same-store sales.

Wall Street expects fourth-quarter earnings of $1.13 per share on revenues of $2.45 billion.

For the year, the company now anticipates net income per share, which includes $0.07 of acquisition-related costs, will range between $2.97 and $3.04. This compares to its previous guidance range of $2.94 to $3.06, which included $0.02 of acquisition-related costs from the second quarter.

Consolidated net sales for 2014 are now expected to range between $8.52 billion and $8.58 billion, compared to the company's previously expected range of $8.44 billion to $8.55 billion.

Analysts expect earnings of $3.05 per share on revenues of $8.55 billion.
