FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2005--AlloCine, France's largest movie information and ticketing service, will demonstrate an exciting addition to its mobile phone service at the 58th Cannes Film Festival May 11-22, 2005, during which it will make movie trailers available via a 3G network. AlloCine is already well-known to French filmgoers for its rich audio content, and now, with the addition of video, deciding which movie to see, where and when, will be even easier for that large, discriminating audience. Not surprising given its reputation for innovation, AlloCine is also the first service provider in Europe to offer video content as part of a mobile phone service dedicated to films and movie-going. The AlloCine service demonstration can be reached with a 3G video phone from any 3G network for the duration of the Cannes Film Festival by calling a special festival-only number: +33 1 70 95 55 96. AlloCine plans to make the video service available after the festival to French callers using its regular pay-per-use premium number, +33 892 892 892, and hopes to make the service available to callers in other European countries soon.
The AlloCine video service was enabled by leading VoiceXML solution provider Voxpilot, which delivered the latest version of its Open Media Platform in time for launch at the Cannes Festival and can now be used by movie fans with access to any 3G network. Voxpilot's Open Media Platform is built on NMS' Open Access(TM) (www.nmscommunications.com/openaccess) development platform, using the Video Access(TM) developer toolkit, the industry's "gold standard" which is at the heart of mobile video applications and solutions deployed by carriers around the world.
AlloCine has a reputation as the leading innovator in film and movie theater information, bringing print, web, and premium mobile phone content and services to the movie-going public and supporting the growth of an important - and international - consumer market. Voxpilot's Open Media Platform helps service providers like AlloCine quickly and cost-effectively take advantage of the 3G network investments that have already been made by providing everything - hardware, software, and installation - needed to launch mobile video and other next-generation content-based applications. Combining cutting-edge VoiceXML technology with full network connectivity and call control capabilities, the Open Media Platform features NMS' carrier-grade Open Access technology at its core.
"We are very excited about this new service, which combines the simplicity of an IVR with the most innovative mobile video technology. Just dial a simple phone number, and enjoy viewing trailers for all the latest releases!" said Bertrand Stephann, CEO of AlloCine. "With the help of Voxpilot, AlloCine truly brings movies right into your pocket. We think that both movie fans and movie makers will love this new service."
"More and more, mobile phone users today are coming to expect easy, intuitive access to compelling content. For AlloCine's film and theater information service audience, nothing could be more compelling than movie trailers," said Gilles Meyer, CEO of Voxpilot. "Voxpilot is excited to have a supporting role with our Open Media Platform in this latest AlloCine innovation, and NMS' Video Access, in turn, made it possible for us to do so quickly, with carrier-grade performance."
