Google To Launch New Pixel Phones, 4K Chromecast Next Month: Reports

(RTTNews) - Google is preparing to launch new Pixel-branded smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL, a 4K Chromecast, and fully detail Google Home in October, Android Police reported late Thursday.

In a major event on October 4 that will focus on several hardware announcements, Google is also expected to reveal the company's in-house design for a Daydream VR viewer device, the report said.

Daydream VR is a hardware and software platform to help any Android smartphone manufacturer create a VR headset themselves.

The 4K Chromecast may be called either the Chromecast Plus or Chromecast Ultra, while the Daydream device may be called Daydream View. Google was reportedly planning to announce a 4K version of the Chromecast last year.

There were also speculations that suggested that Google would make its own house-branded phone by the end of 2016.

Meanwhile, some reports said Google has suspended plans for its Project Ara, which was an attempt to build a smartphone that lets swaping out its parts like Lego blocks.
