H&R Block Inc. Q3 Profit Decreases, but beats estimates

(RTTNews) - H&R Block Inc. (HRB) announced earnings for third quarter that decreased from last year but beat the Street estimates.

The company's earnings came in at $673.2 million, or $4.05 per share. This compares with $758.2 million, or $4.08 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Excluding items, H&R Block Inc. reported adjusted earnings of $4.11 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $3.75 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 4.0% to $2.06 billion from $1.98 billion last year.
