Hypercom and MCS to Expand Self-Service Payments in Germany
Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that MCS MICRONIC Computer Systeme GmbH, one of Germany’s leading providers of high-tech solutions for vending and dispensing machines, has selected and will resell Hypercom’s high security Artema Modular to integrators and retailers in Germany. The Berlin-based company, appointed Hypercom’s first Distribution Partner in Germany for self-service, plans to initially deploy at least 1,000 of the popular units.
"MCS’ appointment as our first distribution partner focusing exclusively on the fast-growing self-service segment strengthens our already significant position in the global market, giving us an even greater opportunity to increase product reach and gain market share,” said Markus Hövekamp, Vice President of Hypercom’s Global Self-Service Business Unit. "MCS is a prominent and well-established authority in the consulting, design, production and implementation of parking, ticketing and other self-service machines.”
"With Hypercom, we are providing our customers with the highest quality solutions and a safe and convenient consumer purchasing experience. The Artema Modular is the world’s leading self-service payment solution, adds to our advanced product portfolio and positions us ahead of the competition,” said Bernd Strößner, Managing Director MCS MICRONIC Computer Systeme.
Three of the major regional rail transit operators in Germany use Hypercom’s Artema Modular self-service payment terminals with GPRS to speed ticketing in more than 370 trains serving over 200 million commuters and other travelers per year. The popular product enables pay at the pump in Portugal, and payment at on-street parking machines in the Belgian capital Brussels. In addition to venues across Europe, the Artema Modular provides convenience, security and speed to consumers at self-service machines in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and North America.
