MF Global Expands Fixed Income and Institutional Sales Teams

MF Global Ltd. (NYSE: MF), a leading intermediary offering customized solutions in global cash, derivatives and related markets, has expanded its Fixed Income business and introduced a new Institutional Sales group, adding top talent to its already proven team.

MF Global has recently added more than 20 professionals to its Fixed Income group in New York and London. Some of the new members of MF Global’s Fixed Income team in New York include the following:

  • MacDonald ("Mac”) Budd has joined MF Global as head of Cash Trading. He previously served as managing director of U.S. Treasury Securities at UBS AG. Mark Gannon and Michael Marsallo also have joined the Cash Trading team from UBS AG. Additionally, Rich Bryant has joined the team as a long bond trader from Citigroup Global Markets Inc.
  • Brett Benza has joined MF Global as head of Interest Rate Sales. He previously served as managing director of Hedge Fund Sales at UBS AG. Heather Tarrant and Jim Levenson also have joined the Interest Rate Sales team from UBS AG.
  • Michael Wieczorek has joined as the head of Finance and Short-term Trading. Prior to joining MF Global, Mr. Wieczorek was a managing director at Nomura Securities, Inc., where he headed the U.S. Dollar Funding, Repo Trading and Short-dated Interest Rates businesses. Matthew Troy also has joined the Finance and Trading team to oversee the Securities Lending business. Previously, Mr. Troy was the director of Global Debt Finance and Securities Lending at Merrill Lynch & Co Inc.
  • James McHugh has joined as the head of Credit Trading and Sales. He joins MF Global from RBC Capital Markets Corporation, where he served as managing director and head of U.S. Investment Grade Credit Sales. Paul Gallagher also has joined the Credit team from RBC Capital Markets Corporation. Additionally, Scott Princer and Joe Scellato have joined the Credit team from Jeffries & Co. Inc.
  • Fran LaMantia has joined the Fixed Income team to run the Emerging Markets business. Previously, he served as managing director at Cambridge International Securities Inc., where he developed and implemented the Emerging Market Fixed Income and Trade Finance groups. Bartholomew Pan-Kita also has joined the Emerging Markets team from Deutsche Bank AG, where he was a senior member of the Global Structuring and Portfolio Trading team.
  • Kristi DeBriyn has joined the ABS/MBS Sales and Trading team from Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. Frank Bruzese also has joined the ABS/MBS Sales and Trading team from Banc of America Securities.

Additionally, MF Global has added key talent to its Fixed Income team in London, including the following:

  • MF Global has extended the Government Trading & Sales team with the addition of Andrew Sacre, who has joined as a short-end and money market products trader. Prior to joining MF Global, Mr. Sacre was the head of front-office Treasury trading at Dresdner Bank AG, where he ran the money markets, repo and off-balance sheet products. Andreas Gianopolis has joined as the head of U.S. Treasury Trading from Nomura International, where he was manager of the U.S. Treasuries desk. Additionally, Chris Sayers has joined as head of European Government Bond Trading from Atom Capitol Ltd.
  • David Mudie has joined MF Global as the European head of Fixed Income Prime Brokerage. He is responsible for developing and building the firm’s fixed income prime brokerage business in Europe. Mr. Mudie was previously a senior vice president of the Prime Brokerage Division at Newedge USA LLC.
  • MF Global has also extended the Securities Finance team with the addition of Jane Robins who has joined as head of Repo Sales. She previously served as head of Repo Marketing EMEA at UBS AG. Additionally, Victoria Foster has joined the team to manage the European stock loan matched book and the client equity financing business. Ms. Foster joins MF Global from Morgan Stanley & Co. International PLC.
  • James-Scott Wong and Christiane Schuster have joined the Fixed Income team in London to head the High Yield and Distressed Loans desk. Mr. Wong joins MF Global from Calyon London, where he built the Crossover & High Yield trading platform. Ms. Schuster previously served as managing director and head of European Loan Sales at Lehman Brothers International Europe, where she was responsible for establishing the Loan Sales team.

New Institutional Sales Team

MF Global also has built a new Institutional Sales team. Primarily based in Chicago and New York, the team is dedicated to increasing the share of existing clients’ business and building the firm’s institutional investor client base. The Institutional Sales Group includes:

  • Eric Eiers, Darrell McConnell, Mark Psaltis and Kyle Unterseher have joined MF Global as senior vice presidents from UBS Securities LLC, where they were top producers within the exchange-traded derivatives business unit.
