NALEO Educational Fund Announces Election of New Chair and Board Members

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund today announced the election of a chair and two new members to serve on the organization's 15-member board. 

West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran, a current member of the NALEO Educational Fund board of directors, was elected to serve a three-year term as chair of the board during a meeting held in Los Angeles, California on December 16, 2016. 

In addition, Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) Executive Vice President of Government and Corporate Affairs Jessica Herrera-Flanigan and Parking Company of America (PCA) Executive Vice President and Director of New Business Development Joseph "Pep" Valdes were elected to serve initial three-year terms on the NALEO Educational Fund board of directors.

Current NALEO Educational Fund board member and Florida State Senator Rene Garcia was also elected to serve a second and final three-year term on the NALEO Educational Fund board of directors during last week's meeting.

The new members will replace Mike Fernandez, former New York Secretary of State Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez and former U.S. Representative Pete Gallego.
