Norfolk Southern Corp Q1 Income Rises 25%
(RTTNews) - Norfolk Southern Corp (NSC) announced earnings for its first quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line came in at $387 million, or $1.29 per share. This was up from $310 million, or $1.00 per share, in last year's first quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.97 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 5.8% to $2.42 billion. This was down from $2.57 billion last year.
