North Highland Announces Economic Empowerment Pilot Program with United Way of the Big Bend
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., March 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Management consulting firm North Highland is excited to announce its selection of United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB) as one of the firm's philanthropy pilot partners for 2018. UWBB currently works to improve the trajectory of thousands of vulnerable poor and low-income individuals across its eight-county footprint. During this pilot program, North Highland will partner with UWBB to strategically transform their fundraising, resource allocation and communication activities so that they can greater serve the more than 172,278 people in the Big Bend that struggle to afford the basic necessities of life.
North Highland's philanthropic mission is to disrupt root causes of poverty for underserved communities by applying consulting expertise in pro-bono pilot engagements across the firm's 23 markets in the U.S. and U.K. The firm intentionally seeks community partners for pilots that lead the charge for economic empowerment and can derive accelerated outcomes from the firm's consulting expertise. "North Highland is a proud and longtime supporter of UWBB and we're delighted to partner with the agency in such a major undertaking," said Barbara Ray, Managing Director and Global Public Sector Lead. "By aligning priorities and desired outcomes, we will strategically shift the agency to create collaborative solutions and a positive impact for those living paycheck-to-paycheck from all walks of life."
"No one has their finger on the pulse of the challenges facing the working poor and those in poverty more than UWBB," said Berneice Cox, Board of Directors Chair. "On its face, it may seem that North Highland is simply providing us with advice. However, their impact will be felt in the bellies of children who finally don't feel hungry, in families freed of the fear of becoming homeless, in seniors receiving warm and nutritious meals and in the progress of students who no longer struggle to read. Simply put, North Highland's partnership with UWBB will change lives."
