Australia Retail Sales Data On Tap For Thursday

(RTTNews) - Australia will on Thursday see May numbers for retail sales and building approvals, as well as June results for the AiG Performance of Service Index, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.

Retail sales are expected to be flat on month after adding 0.2 percent in April. Building approvals are tipped to gain 3.1 percent on month and 0.9 percent on year after tumbling 5.6 percent on month and gaining 1.1 percent on year in April. The service index saw a score of 49.9 in May.

China will see June results for its non-manufacturing PMI, as well as the services and composite PMIs from HSBC. The non-manufacturing PMI came in at 55.5 in May, while the services PMI was at 49.3 and the composite was ay 49.2.

Japan will see June scores for the services and composite PMIs from Markit Economics; in May, they were at 49.3 and 49.2, respectively.

Hong Kong will release May figures for retail sales and June numbers for its manufacturing PMI. Retail sales are expected to see a decline of 3.0 percent on year following the 9.8 percent drop in April. The PMI saw a score of 49.1 in May.

Thailand will provide June results for its consumer confidence index; in May, it had a score of 70.7.
