KROTON: Total Number Of Students Drops 1.5% In 3Q17 In Annual Comparison
(RTTNews) - Kroton educational group's total number of students has shrunk by 1.5% in the third quarter of 2017 from the same period last year, to 901,642, pressured by the decline in the number of students enrolled in presential courses.
The number of students enrolled in presential courses in the third quarter reached 399,862, down 6.0% over the same period last year, while the number of students enrolled in distance learning increased by 2.4 %, to 501,780.
"Graduate recruitment and enrollment processes have recently been completed with satisfactory results considering the entire challenging scenario permeated by a still-elevated unemployment rate and a very modest economic growth," Kroton said in a report.
The Brazilian company said that the number of students in face-to-face learning was hampered by the drop in enrollment through student loans programs.
The company, however, believes that it will be able to achieve its goals for this year.
