4Kids Entertainment Names Carlin C. West Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Development
4Kids Entertainment (NYSE: KDE), a global provider of children’s
entertainment and merchandise licensing, has promoted Senior Vice
President Carlin C. West to Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and
Development. A 12-year employee of the Company, West will utilize her
extensive marketing, licensing, public relations, and brand building
expertise to direct the upcoming launch of Chaotic –
the company’s eagerly-anticipated
multi-platform trading card game set to debut online and at comic and
hobby stores this summer.
In her new role as Executive Vice President, West will be responsible
for managing the multiple aspects of the Chaotic franchise,
including overseeing the marketing, public relations, trade and consumer
advertising, coordinating the brand’s licensed
merchandise program, and working with 4Kids Productions on the Chaotic
animated TV series. She will also be the liaison to Bryan Gannon, CEO
and President of TC Digital Games and TC Websites, affiliates of 4Kids
Entertainment. TC Digital Games will be producing the Chaotic
Trading Card Game, and TC Websites will be creating the website where
the Chaotic trading card game can be played online. In addition to her
work on the much-buzzed-about Chaotic, West will continue to
spearhead 4Kids’ new property acquisitions.
Chaotic is a ground breaking interactive and multi-platform
experience, as it marries the traditional trading card game with the
Internet. Each Chaotic trading card contains a unique code which
players can use to upload their personal card collection to the
companion ChaoticGame.com website to battle and trade online at
no additional cost. Chaotic launches at hobby and comic stores in
June and at mass retailers nationwide in the Fall.
"Carlin West has an impressive track record of
identifying new business opportunities as well as fueling the growth and
exposure for many of 4Kids’ most successful
brands,” said Alfred R. Kahn, Chairman and CEO
of 4Kids. "She is an integral member of my
executive team, and we look forward to continuing to tap into her
experience, expertise, and commitment as she assumes her new role and
oversees the upcoming launch of Chaotic.”
West joined 4Kids in 1993 as a creator and independent television
producer for WMAC (World Martial Arts Council) Masters, a live action
martial arts-themed weekly kid’s series. WMAC
Masters was 4Kids Entertainment’s first
broadcast TV series. She was later named senior vice president and
oversaw the company’s marketing, advertising,
and public relations departments. Her expanded responsibilities grew to
include the launch of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!
as well as managing the licensing, marketing, and public relations for
the World Championship Wrestling, Monster Jam, the American Kennel Club,
The Dog and most recently, the successful rebirth of the Cabbage Patch
Kids, first exclusively to Toys R’ Us and
then to Play Along for the mass market.
Prior to 4Kids, West was a successful entrepreneur. She began her own
startup company with the creation of F.R.O.Y.D. (For Reality of your
Dreams), an original character and concept for children. After raising
the working capital, she went into production with Matchbox Toys to
produce a doll based on the property. She also worked for the Horsman
Doll Company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing where she created
collector doll lines based on Whoopie Goldberg and The Little Women
feature film from Columbia Pictures.
West attended New York’s Fashion Institute of
Technology studying under world renowned designer Donald Claflin and
began her career by adding new style and direction to the fine jewelry
industry for such notable brands as Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, and
Cartier.
