ADDING MULTIMEDIA MSG Entertainment, Nickelodeon and Live Nation Announce Record Breaking Box Office Grosses Exceeding $4.3 Million for Go, Diego, Go Live! Run at the Legendary Radio City Music Hall
MSG Entertainment, Nickelodeon and Live Nation announced today the
results of its record-breaking two week, 17 performance run of Go,
Diego, Go Live! The Great Jaguar Rescue presented by State
Farm Insurance®, at Radio City Music Hall.
The live family production of Go, Diego, Go Live!, which recently
launched in February, 2007, has broken the Radio City record for ticket
grosses of a family touring show at Radio City Music Hall. Total gross
revenue for the production reached a staggering $4.3 million, breaking
the Radio City record previously held by Diego’s
cousin, Dora the Explorer in 2003.
In addition, Nickelodeon and Live Nation announced 20 additional markets
will be added to the Go, Diego, Go Live! tour schedule. These
include: Los Angeles, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and Houston. The tour
is scheduled to visit a total of more than 80 cities in the U.S. and
Canada. More information can be found and tickets can be purchased on www.nickjr.com/diegolive.
A list of additional tour dates is below.
"MSG Entertainment prides itself on offering
the best live family entertainment at each of our venues and Diego’s
success at Radio City Music Hall is a true testament to the partnership
between MSG Entertainment, Nickelodeon and Live Nation, whose collective
efforts continue to make family show history,”
said Jonathan Hochwald, executive vice president, Productions, MSG
Entertainment. "We are extremely proud that so
many families were able to enjoy this fantastic production and create
memories at Radio City.” "We are thrilled with the results of the Diego
Live Radio City Music Hall performance, particularly for a show that
just launched. Diego follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dora as a
true success story with families,” commented
Stuart Rosenstein, vice president, Nickelodeon Recreation. "We’re
excited that these additional tour dates will provide families with an
engaging and tangible Diego experience.” "The response from families to Go Diego Go
Live! in New York City at Radio City Music Hall is unprecedented for
a family show,” says Jennifer Costello,
senior vice president -- Productions, Live Nation. "This
show is a touring blockbuster, and we look forward to bringing it to
presenters and audiences across the U.S. and Canada.” Go, Diego, Go Live! The Great Jaguar Rescue comes on the
heels of Nickelodeon Recreation and Live Nation’s
most recent project, Dora the Explorer Live!, which sold close
to three million tickets during its domestic run and was the highest
grossing project to-date for the Nickelodeon/Live Nation partnership. Dora
the Explorer Live! first debuted at Radio City Music Hall in 2003 to
sold-out audiences and broke box office records for a live family show
run. Based on the hit Nick Jr. series, Dora the Explorer, the
show experienced continued success at Radio City through 2006, recently
wrapped its third touring season, and made its debut in Europe in
August, 2006.
The new live-action stage show, Go, Diego, Go Live!, follows
Diego, his sister Alicia and cousin Dora on an action-packed, special
mission to get Baby Jaguar’s growl back from
the Bobo Brothers. They’ll need the audience’s
help to rescue animals, navigate through the rainforest and pass a giant
waterfall to get to the Animal Carnivale. Featuring the familiar songs
and characters from the award winning television show that fans have
come to love, this live action theatrical will take preschoolers on an
interactive, high-stakes journey inspired by the rich environments of
Latin America and by the animals that make their homes in those habitats.
State Farm serves as the exclusive insurance sponsor and the official
co-title sponsor of the Go, Diego, Go Live! Tour.
Since its debut on Nick Jr.’s regular weekday
line-up, Go, Diego, Go! quickly became the top preschool series
on commercial television. The series was the number-one program
with preschoolers for five consecutive quarters, and currently ranks
among the top preschool programs with Hispanic kids ages 2-5 on all of
commercial television.
Go, Diego, Go! on Nick Jr. features eight-year-old Diego,
a bilingual animal rescuer and nature expert who has the ability to talk
to animals. In each episode, flavored with Spanish words, Latin American
music, folktales and traditions, Diego and his friends encourage kids to
use scientific thinking and investigative strategies to help animals in
trouble. Baby Jaguar is the animal closest to Diego’s
heart, and his youthful eagerness sometimes puts him in precarious
situations. Go, Diego, Go! airs weekdays at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT (as
of April 30) on Nick Jr., and is created and executive produced by Chris
Gifford and Valerie Walsh, the same team behind the phenomenal hit show Dora
the Explorer.
