Addressing Shareholders, IONA CEO Peter Zotto Highlighted 2006 Performance and Progress Towards Market Leadership
Addressing shareholders at IONA Technologies’
2007 Annual General Meeting at the Herbert Park Hotel, Dublin, Chief
Executive Officer, Peter Zotto and Chairman of the Board of Directors,
Kevin Melia outlined the company’s foundations
for future growth and progress towards market leadership.
"I am pleased with the initiatives we are
undertaking and the foundations we are creating for future growth,”
said Mr Zotto. "We had a positive financial
performance in 2006, delivering solid profitability, positive cash flow
and total revenue growth year over year of 17%, the first revenue growth
year since 2001. Artix is now IONA’s engine
for future growth and is on track to exceed forty-five percent of total
revenue by the end of 2007. At this pace, the Artix product line would
exit 2007 at a forty plus million Dollar run rate business.
The first half of 2007 has been busy with major developments across our
product line driven by acquisition and internal development. We
successfully integrated the acquired businesses of C-24 and LogicBlaze,
launching new products associated with each and expanding our
addressable market. This has created new market opportunities for IONA
and has given us significant momentum going forward.”
Outlining the company’s growth strategy and
business model he added, "We are making
progress towards our goal of infrastructure software leadership as
driven by two major industry trends, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
and Open Source software. IONA has strengthened its position at the
forefront of both trends with an expanded Artix™
SOA infrastructure suite and the recently launched FUSE™
open source offerings. FUSE has expanded our customer reach and has
created new opportunities for the Artix product line. At the same time
our Orbix™ (CORBA) business continues to
provide customers with reliable, high performance infrastructure support
for their mission-critical IT environments, and a stable and profitable
revenue stream for IONA.
We continue to receive strong validation for Artix from independent
industry analysts, customers and partners. Gartner identifies IONA as a ‘visionary’
in the Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure while a separate
report from analyst firm Current Analysis recognises IONA as a ‘tier-1
vendor with positive rating for vision, market perspective and momentum.
Global 2000 class customers, including DZ Bank, Germany’s
fourth largest international bank; Trenitalia, the Italian railway
transportation arm of Ferrovie dello Stato (F.S.); and NARI Technology,
a provider of automation software for the Chinese electric power
dispatching industry, and companies like Aepona, a global provider of
telecoms software products and services, selected IONA for their
strategic enterprise computing initiatives. In addition, we expanded our
partner network and strengthened existing marketing and technology
relationships with systems integrators and platform providers including
CSC and Microsoft.”
Mr Zotto concluded, "In a rapidly changing
and highly competitive market we must continue to innovate and look for
opportunities to accelerate our growth and expand our market opportunity
to secure the long term direction of the company.”
Chairman, Kevin Melia added, "The underlying
strength of the business provides a firm foundation upon which IONA can
continue to build sustainable performance and deliver increasing
shareholder value. Together with the Board, the IONA team remains firmly
committed to the achievement of leadership and profitable growth.” About IONA
