Aeropostale Q2 Loss Widens

(RTTNews) - Aeropostale, Inc. (ARO) reported a net loss for the second quarter of $63.8 million or $0.81 per share, compared to a net loss of $33.7 million or $0.43 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net loss for the latest quarter was $36.0 million or $0.46 per share.

Net sales for the second quarter fell 13% to $396.2 million from $454.0 million a year ago. Comparable sales, including the e-commerce channel, for the second quarter decreased 13%.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.49 per share on revenue of $394.38 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the third quarter, the company expects operating losses in the range of $33.0 to $37.0 million, which translates to a net loss in the range of $0.44 to $0.48 per share. Analysts currently expect the company to report a loss of $0.33 per share for the third quarter.
