After-market Movers For July 17 (GOOGL, GTIV, AMD, STX, IBM)
(RTTNews) - Gainers:
Google Inc. (GOOGL) gained over 1 percent to $589.11. The company's second quarter earnings improved from the year-ago quarter, while its adjusted earnings per share missed Wall Street view. Revenues increased 22 percent and came above the consensus estimate. Aggregate paid clicks increased 25 percent, while average cost-per-click declined 6 percent. The company also announced that its Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora will be leaving to join SoftBank.
Gentiva Health Services Inc. (GTIV) gained 11 percent to $17.26 following the disclosure that it has received an alternative proposal for $17.25 per share in cash. The company also announced that it has determined to reject the partial tender offer from Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (KND) to acquire 14.9 percent stake at $16.00 per share in cash.
Decliners:
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) fell nearly 17 percent to $3.81. The company's second quarter net loss narrowed from the year-ago quarter and its adjusted earnings per share missed estimate by a penny. Revenues increased 24 percent and matched the consensus estimate. AMD forecast third quarter revenue to increase 2 percent, plus or minus 3 percent, sequentially.
Seagate Technology (STX) fell over 3 percent to $57.40. The company's fourth quarter earnings declined from the year-ago quarter and its adjusted earnings per share matched Street view. Revenue for the quarter declined slightly and missed the consensus estimate by a whisker.
International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) declined 2 percent to $189.00. The company's second quarter profit surged from the year-ago quarter and its operating earnings per share topped analysts' expectation. Total revenues for the quarter fell 2 percent, but came above the consensus estimate. The company also backed its full year 2014 earnings guidance.
